Complacency amongst professionals

Complacency can be very dangerous to the professional lifestyle of professionals. It's simply having the "Can Do" spirit when actually it is the otherwise. Professionals who have been constantly successful during their period of work in their field of study tend to be complacent as they gain a sense of over-confidence, thus, they put in little, no effort or no preparation at all during their course of work in the future. But what we don't know is that sometimes success can be it's own enemy. The more successful you become at a particular field, the more difficult it becomes to motivate yourself to put in the effort that brought your success.

For example, the popular " National Science and Maths Quiz" also known as "NSMQ" which is held yearly for senior high schools is a quiz containing questions from the science and maths background. Winners of such competition may act lackadaisical towards work as they know they are constant winners in the game.  This attitude would surely be the end of the success. Another example is the popular story or the "hare and the tortoise in a race" where the hare thought it was the fastest and there was no way the tortoise could beat it at the race thus, it showed no effort to win the race and kept mocking the tortoise as it saw the tortoise moving slowly to the finish line. Well, we all know what happened at the end, the tortoise, the slowest animal won the race.

In short, even though you are confident, you have the "can do" spirit, you feel you are a pro now or you feel you have arrived, do not stop!!. Do not have a limit, go beyond the limit and put more effort to reach a higher level than where you already are!!!
